Description

If you want it simple and cool, you should try this one. There’s no beating around the bush with a thousand functions to get some written text done, but it certainly has some major ones, especially if you have to “go dark”: One is seamless encryption and decryption of files, the other one is a strengthened, automatic saving system, which means that you don’t have to manually save each time. Automatic detection also keeps track of which window is which. Every aspect is pretty much customizable from top to bottom.

One major tool in there is the super-fast Arranger, where you can import as many text files as you want and edit, sort and arrange them before handing them over to export. Then, you can export them as separate encrypted or unencrypted files, or just fuse and combine them all into one single file. You can also bulk import and decrypt files.

Aside from these wonderful capabilities, you will get a really upfront text editor where you can show and hide almost all the elements in the toolbar and status bar. Do you want it just to be a completely blank window without any header and bars? It’s right there. Thanks to the rich text editing style, you can format and color selected parts of your text, just beware that this will not be saved in normal .txt files. That’s why BlackPad offers its own “.bp” file format aside from .txt.

App Security – Choose a master password for the app and select which files you want to encrypt
Auto-Save Interval – Saves your work automatically every 1 to 60 seconds
Arranger – Bulk edit, arrange and encrypt/decrypt multiple files
ListTaker – Create lists similar to iOs’ reminders app
Workwatch – Use a stopwatch to keep track of the duration of your work
Separators & Footnotes – Part your texts with various separator characters
Ejection – Shut down BlackPad after a custom time of inactivity (like not touching the window)
Universal Panel – A second panel serves as a container for excess text material across all windows
Universal Pastebox = A universal pop-out container for all things copy & paste, even while you work in other programs
Logdump – Collects every BlackPad-based activity and written text, so that you can retrieve material in case of a data loss
Mail System – Send and receive normal or PGP, AES, RSA-encrypted mails directly from within BlackPad
