My house is currently being renovated after water damage and i have to spend the live long day at a relative’s for freaking two months. So how can i bear especially the final weeks? With beer. And If you need a quick and easy snack to accompany your beer session, i can recommend making crunchy rolls with bacon and pepper…. I personally have 10 of those per day now, and it’s never getting boring…
Amount | Ingredients/Accessoires |
2-4 | Rolls/Bagels |
8 | Thin slices of Bacon (Schinkenspeck) |
4 | Hot Pepperonis |
Some | Salad |
Some | Herb Butter |
Some | Mustard (optional) |
At the moment i used 3 rolls:
You need Pepperonis (cut off the stems):
Spice your slices of bacon with spices of your choice:
(I used a Chili / Sea Salt mix)
Wrap a slice of bacon around the Pepperonis and gently grill them in a pan at medium heat.
(Turn them around after a minute):
>(You can optionally grill them with garlic like this. Flip them roughly over):
You can also treat then with cheese and let it melt over:
Anyway, the non-cheese version will soon look like this after good 5 minutes of medium heat:
Cut them into pieces
(this is your last resort)
It doesn’t matter if the Bacon goes off . it goes all in the roll anyway:
Apply the Herb Butter to your rolls:
Place the pepperoni/bacon pieces on your rolls:
Add some wide sheets of salad on top:
Close them:
You can give them a short treatment in the oven for a maximum of 1 minute to “activate” them. (Pay attention, if you overlook time they can get rock hard):
- Realize how “activating them” sounds exponentially more funny. They are soon-to-be autonomous UFO drones.
This snack goes extremely well with 2 pints of Guinness….replace that number with your maths. My version has quite a bit of short-lived pepperoni heat, but gets me back on track. And what’s the bottom line? The smell of grilled bacon, the spices, the herb butter….. AHHHHHHH!!!!!
Cheers and have a good one!
